Portals to Peace in a Time of Turmoil

In this frantic time during a pandemic, all of our anxiety and fears are being stirred up, and we don’t feel safe. We wonder about our future, our health, our finances, our ability to carry on normal life. Everything seems to be turned upside down! 

Where can we find PEACE in the midst of all of our turmoil? Can we find it through getting more information, so we can figure it all out? Can we find it by making sure we’re stockpiled with necessities? Can we find it by taking all measures to keep ourselves germ free?...What do you think?...Has that brought you PEACE?...I didn’t think so...

In order to experience PEACE, we must go within...We must begin at a very base level because our very survival is being threatened...We must create safety for ourselves...But merely trying to control our external environment does not create the safety that produces peace. 

The portals to creating PEACE are Stillness and Presence...The stillness calms our overstimulated nervous system, so we can begin to get in touch with the bigger picture...The presence puts us in touch with our Divine limitless nature, so we can operate from an expansive viewpoint that is more effective than our limited human logic, abilities and resources. 

Peace is the first step to our path to FREEDOM. Once we can establish a safe peaceful outlook, then we can proceed to the next portal, which I will discuss in a future post. 

This Coronavirus situation has effectively put us on lockdown. We can choose to make this a time of personal retreat and introspection. We can choose to stop running from our fears and to take the first steps to healing our fears, which is to sit with them in stillness and presence. Over time, as we get used to them, we can make friends with our fears, which is how we heal them...but it must be done in stages...So, we start with stillness and presence. 

You can begin by sitting still for 5 minutes...just sit...no talking...no moving...just sit...preferably with your back straight so your energy centers are open...and OBSERVE what your mind does...

At first, it may act like a raving lunatic, upset at the ludicrousness of sitting still...just sit...then after it rants about that, it may move onto other worst possible scenarios for your life...just sit...then it may move onto all the people who did you wrong...just sit...and let it all unravel...There’s a lot of pent up energy trying to come out!...but soon it begins to settle...into peace...

Then when you get up from sitting still, start putting all of your focus on this moment...how your feet feel touching the floor when you walk...the feel of your breath going in and out of your lungs...the feeling of tightness in your chest because of the stress...the thoughts racing through your mind about what’s next...and see...see if you can hear the still quiet voice of your Highest Self...encouraging you...loving you...letting you know everything‘s gonna be OK...

Watch and see how before you know it...you start to feel at PEACE! Peace to all of you, my friends. I love you so much! ❤️

I’m starting to feel a little bit like I’m in the twilight zone…DeeDoDeeDoDeeDoDeeDo...

At first, I thought, this will all blow over in a few days...But now I’m getting a clearer picture of what’s happening...and WHY!...

Yes, the obvious thing is there’s a virus out there that’s created a pandemic...I’m not talking about the obvious, what’s happening on the surface. Because if you’re clever, you realize everything happens for a reason. It’s not random. 

And in order to see things from a clearer perspective, we must pan out because otherwise we only see what’s happening in a tiny radius of scope. Soooo...as I pan out...I see things...

What do you see? you ask... Lemme look... Well, I see the reason we’re going through all this commotion is because we’re getting ready as a collective to go through a big SHIFT... an AWAKENING... 

And in order to realize the shift... we must come in touch with our fears... so that we can heal them... 

The thing is that we are so good and clever about avoiding our fears that the Universe created a situation that forces us to STOP and BE STILL for a while... and the heat’s getting turned up... it’s like a refiner’s fire... burning away the chaff and leaving behind the gold!

So, what can we do about it? 

I’ll tell you what I AM doing, which is working for me... First, I AM healing any fears that arise. (I’ve gotten pretty good at that!)... Then I just go with the flow right straight into JOY! 

I figure I can approach this from one of two ways... I could panic and worry and get my liver in a quiver and make my heart fart... or I could treat this like a giant ADVENTURE, wondering what new experience awaits at every turn! 

It’s a no brainer to me... I choose adventure over panic... LOVE over fear... PEACE over worry. 

And I remind myself that this moment is PERFECT. Everything I need and want is here now. Everything that’s here now is perfect... even any fear, disappointment, loneliness, sadness, grief... all of it is perfect and entirely beautiful... in fact, all of it deserves my love and attention. 

It feels wonderful to be able to HOLD all of me in my loving embrace. This is how we heal ourselves. This is how we shift into a new way of being. This is how we awaken to the LOVE that we are. 

All is well, my friends. 

Things are not what they seem. 

Everything is in process as it’s meant to be. 

Let it go. Let it flow.

Why is Life So Freakin Hard Sometimes?

Dadgumit! It’s just not fair... feeling so lonely, misunderstood and unwanted. Sometimes it feels like it’s us against the world... and we’re getting our butt kicked! 

Lord knows we try!... to get it right... to please others and do what makes them happy. But still, conflict arises... something happens that stirs up all our anxiety, our anger, our shame, our guilt, our resentment. Or maybe nothing happens... nothing at all... same boring, lackluster mundane existence where we feel so ALONE and SAD! WTF?! Is this what life’s about? 

The frustrating thing is that no matter how much we do to prevent, control, shake off all this crap from entering our lives, it shows up! And it wears us out! Why does life have to be so hard?!

Well, I have good news...It doesn’t have to be hard... but the thing is... the way most people go about taking care of all these situations and feelings is the exact opposite of what actually works!... That’s right... The reason why life is so hard is because we approach it from a very LIMITED way of being... using our human logic, resources and abilities... 

And what is the alternative? you ask... The alternative is to operate from our LIMITLESS nature where life becomes graceful, effortless and a whole lot of fun. 

Well, how do we do that?! you ask, a bit exasperated... It’s actually a PROCESS, not an instant fix... however, it’s not necessarily hard to do nor does it take very long, but nonetheless a process... And that’s exactly what I’ve done for myself and what I’m teaching my clients. 

Tell you what... I’ll give you a sneak peek at the process. It involves creating SPACE for healing. And SPACE is an acronym that stands for STILLNESS, PRESENCE, AUTHENTICITY, CONNECTION and EMPATHY. The process includes very focused, powerful guidance of practices, inspiration and perspective. It’s amazing! And it not only brings you to healing, it shows you how to SUSTAIN your healing. 

Once you go through this process, life is no longer hard. In fact, it’s graceful, effortless and a whole lot of fun... Who doesn’t?! Truth is many people don’t feel safe at all... for large segments of their lives. It’s like living in survival mode, constantly running from the monsters and demons of anxiety chasing us or completely shut down by depression. How can w…

Who doesn’t?! Truth is many people don’t feel safe at all... for large segments of their lives. It’s like living in survival mode, constantly running from the monsters and demons of anxiety chasing us or completely shut down by depression. How can we find safety?

Let’s look at what’s happening before we talk about how to shift it... when our basic needs of survival... food, safe place to live, finances, physical safety, emotional safety... are threatened, we are living in survival mode. All of our blood rushes to our extremities as an attempt for us to flee, our cortisol levels go up, our heart races, our minds race... This affects our ability to rest and sleep, which is vital to our healing. Our bodies get worn out from trying to just survive! 

This kind of living is not sustainable and makes for a lot of misery. The thing is that most people endure the most horrible conditions for so long that they get used to it! Yikes! So, here’s the thing... in order to shift out of survival mode and into healing, a person has to DECIDE that they’re sick and tired of being sick and tired. I mean completely DONE with that! Otherwise, they can’t be helped... 

And here’s the other thing... not only do they need to be so OVER living in such an anxious depressed state, their DESIRE to be healed must be GREATER than their fears of not being able to be healed, in order for them to move forward. Let’s frame that a different way... a person must LOVE themselves enough to take care of the FEARFUL part of them they are healing. 

Now that we understand that, let’s talk about ways to feel SAFER so we can choose to heal ourselves, rather than continue to fight ourselves and others while in survival mode. What we need at this point is to create BALANCE and to GROUND ourselves since we are unstable.

Here are two SIMPLE things we can do to create grounding, balance and safety:

1) Sit still in a chair for 5 minutes each day... Do you think that’s silly and won’t work?... Well, I can see where you would think so, but I assure you it will. Here’s why... What we’re working with is an overstimulated nervous system... It’s like a tightly wound angry ball of energy that needs time to unwind and settle down. Just do it. Try to just relax and breathe. Take some long deep breaths with long deep exhales. Don’t worry about your mind racing and obsessing and replaying the same sad story over and over again. Just sit still and watch it all like you’re watching a movie. 

2) Take a walk...or dance a bit... anything to get your feet touching the ground. This is how you GROUND yourself. It doesn’t have to be a very long walk, although that’s nice if you can. But even a short walk helps, especially if you’re very upset. Once again, remember to breathe. Your breath can bring you to safety. 

Once you feel SAFE enough, you can start advancing towards healing yourself. The most skillful way to heal yourself, especially if you’re really in a bad way, is to call in an expert who’s already done what you want to do and knows how to teach others. And that’s exactly what I’m doing for my clients!
