Are You Ignoring Your Pain?

Hoping it will just go away and never come back. Well, it’s not going to go away, at least not for long if you keep treating it that way. It will just find another way to get your attention. 

Let’s look at it this way: when a baby cries, it needs something, A diaper change, a bottle, a hug, to feel safe. You get the idea. The baby has to cry to get your attention because the baby can’t speak yet. There’s nothing wrong with the baby crying to let you know that he/she needs something. 

Pain is like the baby crying. It’s trying to bring our attention to something that needs our love and attention at this time. If we continue to ignore it or numb it and wish it would go away, it only makes it worse. The most effective way to deal with pain is to ask your body what does it need at this time. And it’s really important to know that underneath that physical symptom, is a deeper pain that’s asking for love and attention.  It’s that simple. 

When we discover what wants our love and attention, and offer that love and attention to ourselves, we transform the pain and heal ourselves. Voila! Problem solved. Pain gone. And everybody’s happy! 

Dealing with pain in this way is a process and requires tools and a strategy to really be effective at healing. That’s exactly what I’m giving my clients! Nothing Is Inherently Wrong

What?!!! That’s right. Nothing is inherently wrong. It may not be appropriate at this time, but it’s not wrong. Right and wrong is a human construct of feeling separate from what we need and want. When we see things from our Highest Selves as Source all connected as ONE, we dissolve right and wrong, and we position ourselves to operate from our LIMITLESS nature.

When we let go of our human viewpoint of wrongness and operate from SPIRIT as pure SOURCE, we free ourselves to flow in our JOY. When we let go of our ideas of how we think things should be, we OPEN to possibilities that will better serve us at this time.

That’s real living! Letting go of our wrongness and all of its limitations is exactly what I’ve learned to do and what I’m guiding my clients to do, so they can soar into their LIMITLESSNESS. Ahhh! It’s amazing!

What Can We Do When We Feel Defensive?

Defending ourselves is a primal natural instinct of being human. We really needed that defense mechanism in our human evolution for our survival as a species, otherwise we may have been eaten by a wild animal. There’s an interesting thing about the brain though: even though we rarely are in dangerous situations that may cost our lives, our brains don’t know any different. It treats an insult the same as if a vicious animal just snarled at us, ready to pounce. What’s really happening is our EGO is being threatened, and it will go to great lengths to defend itself and keep itself alive and in charge.

The problem is when the ego is in charge, we experience a lot of suffering. In order to evolve past that survival defense mechanism of the ego, we must identify as our Highest Selves, as SOURCE, SPIRIT in human bodies. Our Divine LIMITLESS Source nature is not confined to this physical 3D reality. It is simultaneously our NOTHINGNESS and our EVERYTHINGNESS, since they are inseparable. Source does not get offended or insulted because it recognizes itself as ALL that IS. Everything is sacred and part of the process that is occurring as it is meant to be. As NOTHING, it does not feel the need to defend itself because there’s nothing to defend. If you try to fight nothing, there’s nothing to fight. It’s pointless.

When someone says or does something hurtful to me, I recognize that my human ego is what is offended and hurt. And I go to my nothingness. In my spacious, expansive, limitless nature as nothing, I experience freedom from offense, from pain. I’m not trying to allow my ego to stay alive. I just let it all be. It’s amazing! And while my ego is dying, I continue to be reborn and open to my Divine limitless nature.

Feeling Numb?

Because it hurts so much to feel your feelings? I totally get it. When my son Cory died, I felt completely overcome with grief, a deep and overwhelming sadness that was hard to experience.

It’s not uncommon to shut down feeling as a sheer protection mechanism because we’re not ready to be with our feelings. Perhaps we spend all of our time and energy trying to numb and distract ourselves from our feelings just so we could have some relief, even if only temporarily. We may find that numbing process creates more pain because we begin to overindulge in unhealthy behavior.

On my grief journey, I learned something surprising: it’s not actually the grief or anxiety that’s causing us pain. It’s our RESISTANCE to it that makes us miserable!

What if we could FACE our FEARS with complete acceptance? What if we could actually befriend these parts of ourselves?

We must be willing to FEEL in order to HEAL. But how? That’s exactly what I’m teaching my clients to do.
